I the undersigned call upon the Environment Agency to issue a closure notice to Walley’s Quarry Limited, because of the appalling impact that odour from the landfill has had on the people of Newcastle-under-Lyme, and also because of the operator’s long history of permit breaches and non-compliance:
The Environment Agency issued a suspension notice to Walley’s Quarry, but less than a month later, have now withdrawn it.
Suspension was welcome, but it did not go far enough, for long enough.
For as long as I am your MP I will be fighting to get the site shut down and capped off.
